GENERAL AIRLINE TRAVEL TIPS
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO!
BAGGAGE RULES Check ahead of time with your airline or travel agent to determine the airline's travel baggage policy. This includes the number of pieces you can bring as well as size and weight restrictions. Avoid over-packing your travel luggage; the airport security screener should be able to easily reseal your bag if it is opened for inspection.
TIME CONCERNSMost flights board approximately 30 minutes before takeoff - it may take from 15 minutes to 2 hours to check-in and go through security.
CHECKING LUGGAGEMost airlines close the check-in process at least 30 minutes before the flight so if you are checking baggage, plan to arrive at the airport in plenty of time.
TSA/SECURITY SCREENINGRemember the 3-1-1 rule. For Liquids, gels, lotions, etc you are limited to 3.4 oz clear bottles or less, in a clear 1 quart ziplock bag, 1 bag per person. For more information, check out TSA.gov.
Be nice to your ticketing and gate agents; they have great authority over enforcing rules and making exceptions. You are more likely to get what you need if you calmly ask for their help.
